It is reported he was making around ₤ 2.2 m a year with the side from the United States capital.
‘ Primarily terrific’
Grant Wahl, who covers MLS for American publication Sport Illustrated, stated Rooney’s spell with DC United had actually been “mainly terrific” and compared his effect with that of former United team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is at LA Galaxy.
Wahl’s viewpoint is supported by Rooney’s statistics …

” He’s very, very clever when you speak about football, methods, organisation, how to play and how to train. He was always incredibly professional in training, the very first on the pitch and the last to leave.
” Rooney had a lot of good managers and coaches in his life, so I think he will have gotten things occasionally.”
‘ Is this real?’
While Eriksson handed Rooney his very first England cap, the 33- year-old has Derby chairman Mel Morris to thank for providing him his very first fracture at coaching.
The relocation has actually surprised many advocates and pundits – and, it appears, everybody at Derby too.
